Last year we hiked in the Dolomites in September, which was so delightful, we want to do it again. However, we have to go the last 2 weeks of August. How crazy crowded is this part of Italy? Should we make reservations now? Pick another destination?

Karen, It will be busy but you can still get a res. We are going late July (again!) and will reserve this month. Just do it! We like Ortisei and the Alpe di Siusi. Have taken to dividing our time between the two, but might make a second trip in Sept to go to Sesto area on advice of an Italian friend.
