Using The Fork app in Florence, what's the discount about?

We'll be in Florence next week and I decided to make a few restaurant reservations. For one reservation I used the Fork app for the first time (actually booked online then downloaded the app so I can use it for other reservations). Anyway, when I made the reservation for Saturday night it listed a 20% discount.

Has anyone seen this on the Fork or any other app? If so, how does it work at the restaurant? To be honest, I'm a little skeptical about it and don't really plan on worrying about it but I was just curious.

In general, does anyone have specific experience with the Fork or other restaurant app for Italy that you would recommend or say steer clear of?
Thank you.

I have received and used Fork discounts many times, in France, but not sure why it would not work in Italy, too,

I will add that I have used the Fork app, literally walking around Paris at dinner time, and making a reservation with the discount while standing in front of the restaurant. I always figured it was some sort of real time supply and demand calculation by a restaurant having a slow night...

We used The Fork to make a reservation in Venice a couple of years ago. There was no discount, but ever since then I get emails regularly claiming discounts on restaurants in Italy.

I just checked the most recent offer (still in my Deleted folder) to see what the discount was: €50 off on our next reservation! Hmmm...

Thank you for the replies.
JoJo, when you got the discount did you have to ask for it when you got the bill at the end of the meal or was it already applied to your bill? I'm wondering how familiar the wait staff would be with the discount.

It was always correctly applied on the bill, I never had to ask for the discount at the end of the meal. I was always prepared to ask - and certainly when I entered the restaurant, I made sure they checked me in through Fork, and I typically mentioned the discount at that time. Sometimes the discounts were specific, say for appetizers, and sometimes it was simply some amount off the total, but if I had questions on what qualified for the discount, I would ask the waiter.

Thank you, that's good to know. This particular discount says 20% off except drinks. I'll be sure to check in through the app.

We used Fork a few times. If a discount was in the reservation, it was honored. It even surprised us the first time as we hadn’t noticed until we received the tab.
