Can I charge my phone while in Italy using my charger that uses 110 volt current here in the USA? I've been told my ipod charger will work using either 110V and 220V. Just wondered if this is true for my phone charger.
Look on your cellphone charger to see if it says something like 110-240 volts. If it does, you're OK...you'll just need a plug adapter.
nancy,
One other question that needs to be clarified.
Is your Cell phone with one of the networks that will operate in Europe? If you have a quad-band phone with either AT&T or T-Mobile, you shouldn't have any problems. I'm not sure if roaming is allowed for all customers on those networks, or just contract customers? You might want to check to confirm that.
Happy travels!
Nancy,
Currently living here in Rome and we have a Blackberry 8830, a Treo 700w, and a Samsung phone - all bought in the US - plugged in! We also have IPOD's, GPS units (Garmin), and a battery charger plugged in with no problem. All were bought in the States but did have 110 & 240 capability.
We did have to buy a rounded "plug adapter" for one phone but no convertors, regulators, etc. for any of these phones. As suggested by Norm, look at your "plug" for the 110 - 240 description.
Your phone must be a GSM phone to work in Italy... For example, a Verizon CDMA network phone will not work here (unless it's one of the new "world" phones Verizon has).
Check with your provider before coming over to ensure you have Int'l service (and make sure you know what it costs!). Good Luck!
