Using Milan as hub?

We are interested in visiting Turin, Lake Como and Venice. Would it make sense to stay in Milan as a hub and take day trips to Turin and Lake Como and then move on to Venice; or is it best to stay several nights in Turin and Lake Como? Staying in Milan would minimize luggage transfers. Any advise is appreciated.

Okay, here's my two cents of advice: the villages on Lake Como are particularly charming in the evenings and you'll miss that if you only daytrip out of Milan. I don't know about Turin.

For your day trip to Turin yes stay in Milan. But for lake Como (Varenna)& Venice you should stay at least 2 nites each, to really get the feel of the incredible beauty, uniqueness and calm of these locations you will not regret it. Milan is pricey with little to see except last supper , duomo&piazza & La Scala. Train can get expensive back and forth. If you are thinking one night you may have some lodging difficulties as often times there are some minimums.
