Using daybag

Going To Venice Florence Rome in July. Can I use my day bag to pack additional items that I can’t get into my carry on? I plan on bringing a cross body purse as well since some places make you check day bag

Not sure if you're talking about flights or not but airlines will allow one carry one and ONE personal bag. If you have more than that they'll charge you a fee. If you can stuff your cross body bag into your day bag and your day bag isn't a huge backpack type of thing you should be fine but check with your airline to see the size limitations.

If you're talking about the train between these cities, you will have no issues with that amount of luggage. The only thing to consider is that there is no one to help you with getting your belongings on or off the train so only carry what you can easily handle by yourself.

Not all airlines are created equal. Each airline define their own rules, so you need to check each airline you are going to use.

The again some airlines just don't seem to care. Just got home from a European trip and on the last leg home in a small Delta plane (which was full) I was amazed what they allowed a young lady to board with. A full size rolller carryon with what looked to be a large cosmetics case attached to it, a small fashion backpack that also had another bag (travel blanket?) attached, umbrella, big bag of duty free shopping, and a large bundled fabric bag (so large it would have completely covered her lap when sitting). Stunning.

She may have paid more to be able to bring all that junk with her. You never know. I've had to combine bags before even when my "purse" was just a cell phone holder on a string. It's just always best to follow the guidelines set out than to be surprised at the gate.
