I don't think I'm alone in needing a large print user friendly map aimed at tourists. I have my RS book with the maps of course, but the print is so small even at the house with a magnifying glass I'm having issues getting my bearings to plan our itinerary. What do you all recommend? I read in the forum people like Streetwise maps, but the print is too small. Any suggestions?
If you want a map for planning, and to have before you reach Rome, this won’t help, but once you reach Rome, many, many hotels have a pad of maps at the front desk. Simply wander into any hotel, and the clerk will be happy to tear off a map and give it to you, for free.
If they’re not busy and you have specific locations you want to reach, they’ll likely even show you where those are on the map, and help with the best way to get there.
Rick Steves sells maps, including one for Italy. It has maps for Venice, Florence, and Rome. But they may not be large enough for you. The individual city guidebooks for Venice, Florence, and Rome come with a fold-out map attached in the book. Those maps are much larger and easier to read.
