We will be arriving into Pisa around noon. Our itinerary leaves the first night open before going on to Monterroso in the Cinque Terre. Wondering if we should go straight to Monterroso from Pisa upon arrival, or should we sleep in Lucca or Portovenere?
First, I would suggest that you decide if you want to see the leaning tower. The airport train station is 5 minutes from Pisa Centrale and the tower is a 30 minute walk in or you can take a quck taxi. If you still have the time, a night in Lucca could be a wonderful experience. You're not far from the CT and its a beautiful town. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Pisa. Outside of the tower and the adjacent historical grounds, nothing much else to see.
