Wonder whether point-to-point train tickets is better than the select saver Eurail pass. Flight into Zurich and train to Lake Como to Cinque Terre, back to Zurich for flight home. Travel is only 9 days.
Just price it out. I am guessing point-to-point would be cheaper.
If you get a swiss card with the free train to/from the airport anyplace in CH - you may save money on that part. For about 120$ you get from airport to your destination on day 1, and the same on your last day back to airport. (basically a 2-day pass - but with 50% off in between days... which you may not need). A cross-CH train ride can quickly add up to over $100 - so this may help you get to the Italian border... then do individual tickets from there (you may be able to buy that part before you leave so you dont have to get out if there is no change.) On the way back - go from CT to the CH border again and then use your cards return trip from there to the airport.
