Urbino to Perugia bus

We will be in Urbino in early April and will then be heading to Perugia. Has anyone taken the Viaggi Ruocco bus from Urbino to Perugia? I've been told by the tourist office that I can purchase tickets on the bus, but that it is better to make a reservation. I'm not sure how crowded that bus would be in early April, probably mostly local folks, but you never know. Thanks.

Haven't taken that bus, but if it doesn't work out for you, the regular intercity bus (don't remember if it's Cotral or Sita) runs every couple of hours, perhaps more often.

Thanks, Zoe. I wasn't aware there was an intercity bus between Urbino and Perugia. I'll look for that. I'd prefer not to make a reservation in advance if I can avoid it.

I have taken the bus - and the web site recommends that you book ahead - I think so that they can estimate how many ppl will take the bus and maybe adjust the bus size accordingly.

any way, I wasn't able to book my seats on their website so when I arrived at my hotel I had the front desk book my reservation for me. The bus driver had a list of all the passengers and ticked off our names as we boarded. I guess this is also a way for them to know if they should wait a few minutes longer if there are any ppl that haven't arrived on time.

Thanks, Na. Their website doesn't seem to work and I'd need to call to reserve. Was the bus very crowded when you took it? What time of year was it? Appreciate your help.

Haven't done this route, but did take the bus from Gubbio to Urbino. All was fine except that there was an unexpected change in the middle of the trip - on a country road in the middle of nowhere. The buses going in opposite directions each stopped on the side of the road. Our driver knew he had people going to Urbino, so he stood up and hollered "Cambia!" (change!). Even that would have been okay, but I had been relaxing with my shoes off! Nevertheless, we made the change and traveled on to our destination. Italy! Love it!

Hi Christine
Couldn't find the button to reply to your msg.
You pay cash on board the bus.
The bus wasn't fully packed but there was a good amt of ppl on board. I went during the fall and there were either 1 or 2 buses per day.

There is a ticket window inside the bus terminal in Urbino, you can buy tickets there. Good coffee/snack bar, too.

Thank you Na and Zoe. That is very helpful information. We are really looking forward to seeing Apulia and Marche this spring.
