Upper Sorrento Taxi Service Situation

I have my heart on staying at Villa Ariele for my short stay in Sorrento.

It is a short walk from the bus service, about 10 minutes for some routes....further for other routes.

I don't mind the public bus, really, other than it seems like via private car, it takes 25 minutes to Piazza Tasso. It is twice as long via public transit.

I can't really find much about public taxis, and the one article I could find indicated it may be upwards of 50 euro each direction from town to the Villa. Which is a bit rich for my blood.

I had considered reaching out to Manetti Taxi, as I know it comes highly recommended. But, I don't really need a full tour or a driver all day. I just need a quick ride to and from.

Has anyone stayed in the Villa Ariele/Hotel Prestige area and what did you do for transportation? Or has anyone been able to book Manetti for just quick trips from hotel to destination?

I can't answer your question but it was raining when we arrived in Sorrento last week so we took a taxi to our hotel which was a 10 minute walk away....€24, so be prepared to pay for convenience.

Probably not the answer you're looking for but this hotel is really best for visitors with a car. It's quite some distance from Sorrento. and yes, a taxi both ways will be expensive, as has been noted by some guests who've reviewed the villa on Booking.com. You should browse through some pages of those? Here's one from last June mentioning cab cost:

"...slightly far away from the city centre, only stay there if you have a car or else every taxi trip costs around 65 euros"

There are review mentions from many guests about the need to have a car if you stay there.

So I guess if the bus takes too long for you and you don't care for the high cab fares, I'd stay IN or at least much closer to Sorrento. Personally, I think you'd want to be closer to the restaurants, ferry port and other amenities offered in town anyway? It's a nice place for evening strolls too.
