I'll be flying to Italy in a few weeks via American Airlines.
AA website is wanting me to upload mine & my wife's proof of vaccinations on the VeriFLY App. Has anyone had an experience with this? After I had set up my account, I couldn't set up my flight details as I was still about a week outside their window to enter it. For those who've used this App when traveling with spouse, family, etc, does each individual need to have their own App account or in my case, can I include my wife's vaccination records onto my App account? Thanks
Honestly, I've found that app to be a cumbersome PIA, and just presenting the docs at the airport isn't a greater burden.
With VeriFLY, create your account on the device you’ll have with you at the airport since the account is only good on one device. Create your trip (A trip to Italy confident traveler). You’ll then be able to upload your CDC card (I already had images of them on my phone) and it shouldn’t matter how far out the trip is. There’s an add companion button. Click it and add you wife. You’ll need to take her photo, add her data, and upload her CDC card too. You can save her information for future trips. If any test results need to get uploaded, you’ll be able to do that too. Each person’s information is entered separately. Also, if after creating your trip something changes (times, flight number, etc.) you’ll need to recreate the trip.
Once you figure out how it works, it really is pretty easy to use. I made the mistake of creating my trip on my tablet, so I couldn’t bring it up on my phone at the airport. Everything had to be checked manually so ensure you have printed copies of information like test results, passenger locator form, etc.
We used the VeriFLY App to fly to France this past November. I was able to add myself, my husband, and our son to my account, but in order to "cover all our bases" so to speak, my husband ALSO added himself, me, and our son to his account on his phone without issue. I can't remember if he added his info on his own account first and then I was able to pull him up on my app, or if I added everyone and then he could pull us up. We were all on the same flight reservation, so that might have made a difference.
Curious… the Delta FlyReady site is not requiring any proof of vaccination. I think it was perhaps changed when Italy changed its requirement and dors not now require covid test before arrival. But it doesn’t make sense to not have to upload proof of vaccination. Are other airlines still requiring it, after March 1 policy change by Italy?
Does anybody have a status on using Verifly with American Airlines? I can't even get the app to download and keep getting an error stating "the problem is at our end".
We had this issue with Delta, never resolved. Took our documents to Check-in in ATL, the agent took maybe 3 minutes to enter the data and issue our boarding passes. Reverse process in Milan without any issues.
If you can get the app to work, fine, use it. Otherwise, it's just as easy to have the ticket agent handle it.
I am with Barbara. I couldn't 't get it to work. We were in Italy and last of March and beginning of April and we just went to the ticket agent and bam she did what needed to be now. No time at all. Last year we were in Germany and the same thing. Ticket agent did it. What happens if you don't use technology? They have to do it anyway.
We leave May 2nd for Italy. I uploaded the PLF QR codes and vaccination card images that I already had on my phone for my husband and I to Verifly. It took a few tries to get the app to upload the vaccination card pictures but once it did we got all our green checks. However, we've got all of our paper copies just in case!
