Update on Bologna traffic tickets.

A happy first weekend of the New Year to all who chimed in on our lively discussion from last summer. To recap, Hertz charged an administrative fee for passing on my billing information in regards to two alleged infractions incurred while trying to return my rental car to the reservation desk near the train station in Bologna. Anyway, because they were so close together and on either side of walking into the office, I asked Hertz in Italy to at least only charge me for one of the two administrative fees. I also asked them if they could find out what the tickets were for. Long story short, they don't have the staff to find out what the tickets were for. (As of today, I still haven't received any official tickets ~ issue date: April, 23rd.) But, Hertz here in the U.S. did refund the charges for both administrative fees! So, by being just a bit diligent in seeking justice, I got around $95 back in pocket... and Hertz now has a vocal advocate of their fine service. In the future, I recommend returning your rental car to smaller towns or to the big lots at an airport (the surcharge is worth it.) But if you do get a ticket, don't be too timid to ask to be treated fairly. Happy travels, Bill
