Update on AAA travel money cards

The cards cost $4.95. There is a $3.00 per transaction fee plus 3% international conversion fee. You can reload the card and there is no cost to do so if you are a AAA member. You can buy a "companion" card for $1.50 which can be used as a second card and act as a replacement if you lose your primary card.

While not the best rate it is on par with a lot of banks, including my own local bank which charges the same. Capital One certainly offers a better deal ($1.50 per transaction with no other fees)

That sounds like a pretty raw deal to me. Even WaMu/Chase is $2 per transaction and 1% fee on ATM withdrawals. the new ally bank is has an online money market account that pays decent interest and has almost no fees. a 3% fee on ATM withdrawals is pretty steep on top of the $3 transaction charge, IMO.

Capital One told me there is NO TRANSACTION FEE; the only fee would be any fee charged by the ATM owner.
