up to date tourist info for Venice and Florence

I am having difficulty finding out if/when Christmas markets are happening in Venice and Florence this year. Also the "annual" Florence light festival. Everything I click on seems to be out of date with last year's information at best. Any suggestions on where to look or who to contact? Thanks

Zak
I can’t help with Venice but Florence’s Festival begins December 7th thru Jan 5th.

Happy travels

Zak, I'm having the same issue. When I google December events, I keep finding things from last December. A few months ago when i was planning this trip, someone mentioned the energy crisis in Europe and questioned if things will be lit up as they normally are for December. I finally decided to go ahead and book my trip, but it would be a relief to see it confirmed. I'll be following along to see if anyone else can offer reassurance.

My first google on the subject brought this up for Venice.

I'm not seeing confirmed dates for Florence's F-Light festival on the website for that event yet but it has a contact email:

Thanks for the tips. I eventually tracked down what I hope is the official Florence tourist info website (www.feelflorence.it) and that shows dates for the Xmas market beside Santa Croce from 19.11 to 18.12. I have emailed the light festival organizers and will update here when I get a reply.

Thanks, Nancy - it hadn't occurred to me that there would be stuff happening in Mestre too. The Murano option sounds amazing so I will check that out as well and I already have two nights booked in Verona ....... bring on the festivities!

I'm so glad you asked this question Zak. I'm staying in Florence Dec 7-16, but plan to do day trips to other cities/towns. My primary reason for visiting this time of year is the holiday lights. The more the better for me! Florence is magical any time of year, but the idea of seeing it lit up for the season will be a dream come true. I'm still undecided about whether to see Venice this trip (would require an overnight) or to focus on smaller villages outside Florence, so all this information is helpful!

Just thought I'd post a quick update... based on a few Instagram sites I follow, it looks like they're starting to set up holiday decorations and the Christmas market in Florence! I'm so excited I can hardly stand the wait. :)
