Hello,
We have not been able to make train reservations and wondered if someone might have advice for us. We are attempting to make them for early July and tried through via the Rick Steves site and then directly. Any suggestions?

There is a schedule change every June so tickets beyond that won't be available until they are loaded into the system. They load the fastest trains first and then go down to the slower trains. If part of your trip is on a regional train you probably won't be able to book that until May. Try just looking at the high speed part or your trip to see if you can book that sooner. You can always add on the regional part once you get to the train station. The trip would be from Venezia S.L to Firenze S. M. novella

The answer is simple: you are too early. The present schedule runs to June 12th. You need a little patience.

There is a schedule change coming up in June. Happens every year. The Regionale trains, which are the only trains that stop in Vernazza, are not officially scheduled yet. So you cannot buy tickets now. You may be able to get Freccia tickets as far as Florence or Milan, but the Regionales, and when I checked 2 days ago, the IC train from Milan to Livorno, are not scheduled yet. So keep checking,

It is important to keep checking, so don't wait until June 12. They will release the schedule erratically. For example, I have been able to reserve one of my trips after June 12, but not another.
Usually if your trip involves both a freccia and a regionale you will be able to buy a ticket for the entire trip.
