Unique and Special Hotels...cinque terra/florence/tuscany

Good day travelers...my wife and I are finally honeymooning over late March-early April. We will be in the Cinque Terra for several days and into Florence and Siena for a few more. I am looking for somewhere unique...someplace that sings "Italy" without being too commercialized. For example...Manuel's Guesthouse in Monterosso seemed wonderful...a pleasant owner, wonderful terrace to sit and relax, and a gorgeous view. Unfortunately, he has not responded to my requests for information regarding availability, which I take to mean that he is full. SO - to those who have found the charming place they still talk about...I am looking for your help! Some details - money is not necessarily too tight. If it's worth the price, we can and will pay. We love wine. =) We would probably prefer a hotel, only because my wife is insisting on a private bathroom (and I don't blame her). We are 40, so stairs and climbing are manageable. I am 6'4" - so cramped quarters are uncomfortable. With this in mind, can anyone help me make memories? Thank you for your wonderful consideration!

Scott, Regarding the Cinque Terre, keep in mind that many places there are currently closed for the season. That could explain why Manuel's Guesthouse hasn't responded to your E-mails. They usually open for the season about April 1st, but some may open a bit earlier. I agree with Lola's suggestion about La Torretta. It's a bit on the "pricey" side, but would be a wonderful choice for a honeymoon. Monterosso is the largest of the five towns, so it has a greater number of Hotels, restaurants and other facilities. If you'd prefer to stay in Monterosso, I would highly recommend Hotel Villa Steno. You'll have to contact them to find out if they'll be open then. They may not respond for a few days, but they WILL eventually get back to you. This would also be a fantastic choice for a honeymoon (and they do provide good bathrooms). Check their website for some examples of the great views from the hotel. Regarding hotels in "Tuscany", it would help to have some idea on where in Tuscany you plan to visit besides Florence. It's a large region, so knowing which cities you'll be visiting is essential. Congratulations and happy travels!

Hi Scott, We're staying in Corniglia in late April and reserved a room with Cristiana Ricc (http://www.bebcorniglia.com/). She has emailed us back immediately on the same day each time we contacted her. She's recommended in Rick Steves book. Brian

I do not know what those other places mentioned are like, but La Torretta is absolutely wonderful, and perfect for a They open for the season mid-March and are taking reservations now.
