what companies are recommended for the Colosseum underground tour? Does the colosseum offer a tour or do you have to go thru the private groups?

Just book with the official site. If you have a romapass or already have entry tickets you'll need to call to book just the tour but you can book both tickets and the tour online. http://www.ticketclic.it/Gb/HTML/musei/colosseo.cfm halfway down the page in yellow you'll want to click on "collect onsite" Then choose your date and for the underground tour choose the: VISITA SINGOLI SOTTERRANEI - ENG option. Donna, I have been interested in booking this tour and have been following your posts on it. One thing I have found out is that you cannot call too far ahead of time to book. They suggest calling about a month before the intended date of the tour. My trip is in September. Linda

They have not released the tour dates for September yet. They did this last year at this time, only releasing the September and October dates a few weeks before hand. Usually you can book up to 60 days out. You'll need to keep checking the site for September reservations. They should open up within the next two weeks. Donna

Just follow the instructions in my first post and enter your dates. It will tell you if there "are no events scheduled". Once the date is available you'll see all the tours pop up. They don't give a list of dates to choose from, it's a drop down menu for the whole month. Just keep checking. Donna
