Underground Colosseum tix

I am looking for underground (specifically) tickets for the Colosseum. I learned too late about the 30 day prior release of tickets. This is the one thing my husband wants to do in Rome. I see very expensive options (though also nearly impossible to get) on Tiqets but they are $270/ each and I’ve read so many horror stories about people buying tour tix only to have them cancelled at the last minute.

Does anyone know a legitimate source for underground access, or have suggestions we might look into? We will be there July 2&3.

Thank you

We wound up taking ours through Walks tours and did the VIP Colosseum Night Tour with Underground & Arena.

There was a very interesting piece by Rick Steves posted the RS Facebook group. He stated that some venues, Colosseum and Vatican among them, are so crowded that it may not be worth the effort to get inside them. He suggested several other Rome alternatives instead.

I hope you get the tickets or tours that you desire, but if not, even Rick Steves feels you will not be missing a quality experience due to the crowds this summer.

The Walks of Italy website shows this tour as currently unavailable as is their "VIP Colosseum Underground Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill" tour.

jdarrellsterbak, the issue is that even 'legitimate' 3rd party tour sellers cannot always get their hands on underground tour tickets. They sell them in hopes that they can but Rome forums are fuil of reports from individuals whom have had their tours cancelled before their trips - and sometimes at the last minute - because the company they purchased from couldn't get them. Unless you're buying from the Colosseum's own site, there's no foolproof way I know of to get access to the thing.

What I'd recommend you do is to assure your husband that he can see a good share of the underground from above, either from the arena floor, should you attempt to purchase tickets which include that part, or tiers open to visits with regular entry tickets. Go for the arena floor as it'll get you a bit closer to viewing what's below.

BB, Colosseum tickets are valid only for the specific day and entry time purchased.. The OP will be in Rome on July 2nd & 3rd. The tickets on the other thread are for July 17th at 8:45 am so won't work.

Purchase direct from this site:https://colosseo.it/

They are only about $40; as others have said the 3rd party tours hope they can get them to re-sell and of course mark them up considerably.

I believe I signed on at 3:am East Coast time; late afternoon was avaiable.
