Under The Tuscan Sun

I will be in Florence and I would love to see where they filmed Under The Tuscan Sun. Does anyone know the area where it was filed. Thanks

It was filmed in Cortona, we were there during the filming. The fountain in the movie was put in Piazza Signorelli for the movie and is no longer there. I think it was made of fiberglass or something. I knew as soon as I saw it that it wasn't there the first time I went to Cortona.

They used some sort of granular chemical to create the snow scene. But this spring I got to see real snow in Cortona! We were there in March and it snowed and it was beautiful.

In Cortona. In the main piazza there is a huge almost-nude male statue; it was built for the movie. According to our guide in Cortona, the local folks insisted on the fig leaf.

Besides seeing the movie, I read 5 of Frances Mayes books and knew I had to see her home in Cortona. We ate pizza near the piazza at Fu Fluns, then strolled out to the park with the strange dolphin fountain, past the tennis courts, and up the cypress-lined road (seemed more than a mile) until we found the home Frances created and wrote about in her book, "Under the Tuscan Sun." It is stunning. Many photos of it in her book, "Bringing Tuscany Home." You will love Cortona. Also, be sure to watch the movie, "A Room with a View" to find the many locations in Florence while you are there!
