Unable to e-mail reservation request to Vernazza

I have tried unsuccessfully to e-mail numerous pensions listed in Rick's book for Vernazza. I'm looking for reservations for April 3 through . I realize this is Easter weekend but I can't even get my e-mail to go through. Any suggestions? Carol

Hi Carol - I just made a reservation with Maria Cappellini. She has two rooms, the Charming Room down by the harbor and the Cozy Studio. I emailed her at [email protected]. She got right back to me and has promptly responded each of my emails. Tell her you saw the listing in Rick's book.

Good luck!

Carol, I've also read that some email addresses just don't go through to Italy...?! Maybe try setting up a gmail.com address? Last year for some reason when I was emailing a friend to give us a wine tasting tour I could only contact him through his site but not by using his address directly.

In response to Darcy's suggestion to get a gmail account, I just wanted to say that I use yahoo. Almost every place I have emailed in Italy has responded. Steve is probably correct that many B&B's are closed for winter.

I tried Maria Capellini's e-mail and never got a reply. Andrea, when were you in correspondence with her?

My experience over several years is if they do not respond they are full provided the email the does not bounce back as bad address. Stop and think about -- you and your family are running a small business -- maybe yourself and a couple of others. You are full and you are still getting a couple dozen emails a day. It is time consuming. Sure, maybe they should set up some type of auto response but they don't. Not responding is auto enough. Move on, try another place.

I have been exchanging emails with her several times in the last 5 or so days. I have made a reservation, so that may be the difference.

Carol,

Many (but not all) places in the Cinque Terre close down in the winter, so I'm wondering if that's the problem? It's possible they'll begin answering E-mails again in February (or whenever they start their business year).

There's a local Italian family in this area, and they always close their business for the month of January, so that's why I thought of that possibility.

Good luck!
