Umbria - suggestions to schedule?

Hi, coming in October to Umbria. We don't want to be crazy running around to see everything, so would like input to see if my schedule looks doable without rushing. Also, not huge art fans, mostly want to soak up exquisite views and of course, eating good food and wine

Also, if you feel that a town I have listed isn't worth the time, please let me know. And if I haven't listed a town that may be better please let me know.

Once I get my towns set, I'll be back to ask for other ideas.

Thanks for your help. I wish I had more time. After Umbria we will drive to San Benedetto del Tronto in Marche to see relatives.

Basing ourselves in Spello. We will have a car.

Day 1 - land in Rome (2:30 pm) and drive to Spello.

Day 2 - Spello & depending on how we feel maybe go to Trevi

Day 3 Perugia (take train)

Day 4 Benvagna, Foligno, Montefalco, Torre del Colle. (Too much for one day?)

Day 5 Oviento & Todi

Day 6 Assisi. (Take train)

Day 7 Monte Subasio & Gubbio

Again, thank you for any suggestions

There are too many places to see on day 4. Keep Bevagna and Montefalco. Also, another day visit Norcia.
We spent two wonderful weeks in Spello and did not visit all the towns you list. There are so many to choose from. We had a car.

We stayed at an agriturismo near Spoleto in October 2021. We visited Assisi by car, and parked in the free lot outside the walls. It seemed that cars and trucks inside get walks didn’t exactly want to share the narrow streets with pedestrians, and there were often either no sidewalks, or they were so narrow that it was only practical to walk in the street. Spello and Bevagna didn’t have that problem.

A couple of the days were very rainy, and COLD, so be prepared for that possibility.

Suki is right - trim down the Day 4 destinations. It’s too bad that Spoleto isn’t on your daytrip agenda. It’s fascinating and atmospheric, and with a car, you n the area, I’d put it at the top of my list, with Spello and Bevagna tied for a close second. Assisi was interesting, but it wasn’t a pilgrimage destination for us, so it was nice, but not essential, and the other towns were more rewarding to visit. For Spello, we parked down below (free!) and passed the fascinating ancient entrance gate and walked up into the town. Maybe your lodging gives you better options.

Bevagna was different, because it was level, and not a hill town. Get there before lunch for medieval paper-making, candle dipping, etc. demonstrations in the buildings surrounding where the ancient Roman amphitheater stood.

Thanks to all for the replies. Will think about redoing and adding Spoleto.

I am praying for no rain!
