Uffizi question

My husband and I will be visiting Florence the first weekend of May. We arrive in Florence Saturday afternoon and leave on Tuesday. Sadly this means we only have Saturday pm and Sunday to visit the Uffizi and many other attractions that are closed on Monday. Sunday (being the first Sunday) is the free day at the Uffizi. Aademia, Pitti etc. So we are trying to decide when it is best to visit the Uffizi. I understand it will be crowded on Sunday, but at least we would have more time. If we buy the Firenze card, does that allow us to skip the line even on the free day? I realize this might be a waste due to the cost of the card and it being free that day, but time is valuable. Or would it be worth it to take a skip the line tour on that Sunday despite the crowds? And do you have any advice on the best Uffizi tours? Thank you!

Sunday (being the first Sunday) is the free day at the Uffizi.
Aademia, Pitti etc

Emily, this is no longer true. Free First Sundays at Italian State museums will now only occur during the shoulder/winter seasons (Oct - March). Each museum has 8 days during the rest of the year (aside from Culture Week, which occurred in March) to use at their discretion.

Click this link to see the schedule of free days at the Uffizi, Pitti and Boboli in 2019:

The Accademia has its own free-day schedule but I haven't tracked it down yet. Safe to say it won't be free the first Sunday in May, though.

Reservations for the Uffizi and Accademia are now required with the Firenzecard. From the FAQ page:
