Uffizi in the morning?

I was going to buy tickets for the Uffizi from the official online ticket store. But all the morning slots are gone for the rest of the year. The scalpers seem to have them though. Anybody know the deal with this? Can I not get tickets for the morning without paying a bunch extra to scalpers?

I'm buying the Florence Card. Pricy at Euro 50 but you can get into the "with reservations" lines at the Uffizi and the Academia no matter when you show up. There still may be a wait but that is because they only allow X number of people in at a time. Also gets you into scads of other small museums and free public transportation. Clock starts ticking at the first use of the pass and is good for 72 hours, i.e., noon Wednesday till noon Saturday. If you are only going to be in Florence a very short time this is of course not an economical option or if the Uffizi is all you want to see having been to Florence perhaps many times before.

There are more slots available using the phone reservation system than there are on line. You can call (the number is on the same official website where you book online) bearing in mind the time difference. There is an option to pick English as your language of choice and then you will get an English speaking human who will book your reservation and they can do it for all of the other museums like the ACcademia for David as well. It will cost you the international call, but you will have more choice of times.

I seem to remember they don't offer the early tickest on their website for some reason. I also remember their website being a nightmare... the number of available tickets would decrement, indicating I had "purchased" one, but I couldn't get it into the shopping cart to pay for it. Finally gave up and used a company that charged (only a few Euro more than the Uffizi site). But that was a few months ago, so maybe it's better now. On longer stays in Florence, I've always joined the museum society, Amici delgi Uffizi. Lets you in as many times as you want with no reservation. It also works in most other museums in Florence. For my interest, it is a better deal than the Florence card, for about the same price. When I last got it, I could take in guests with me, which was nice. You can buy it via the internet before leaving, and pick it up when you first go to the Uffizi.

Wow Sherry, your good. It's only 60EUR. I looked around for something like that, but all I could find was membership in some other museum organization with annual dues of 150EUR. I don't see anything about the guest though. How did you find out about that? If that is true, then it would be a much better deal than the Firenze card.

You could also email your hotel and ask them to make a reservation for you.
