Uffizi in the evening

I've heard (and read in Rick Steves) that the best time to visit the Uffizi is shortly before it closes. Anyone try this? I'm planning to reserve tickets before we leave through my hotel, and am thrilled with the idea of having the gallery pretty much to ourselves. We're going the second week of November. Thank you!

We will be there the first week!!! I heard that it is less crowded in the evening but we will be on our way to Lucca so we can't linger. How did you do your reservations

you'll find so much to see and may regret for not getting in early!

Gretchen - We were there a few weeks ago and did not have res. for the Uffizi. At 3, we walked over and the line (for people with no res) was really long. My husband wandered around and actually went in to make reservations for 6 pm. No problem!! We came back at 6 and went right in...it wasn't very crowded at all. By 8:30, we felt like we had seen enough (this was our 3rd week of our trip) and we left. We really enjoyed it and I would say this is a great time to go there. Not sure if they are open late every day, but it was great for us! We also got lucky with the Academia and had only a 15 min. wait to get inside! Good Luck!
