Uffizi in Florence

Hello, looking for some info regarding reservations. If you buy the firenze card, do you still need to make reservations at the Uffizi and Accadamia?

I am under the impression that you still need to make reservations. The lines are very long. Just ask at the TI (tourist information) upon your arrival. I'm sure they will be able to help you. I think you only need a couple day's notice for reservations.

Here is the excerpt from Rick Steves: Florence: Make Reservations to Avoid Lines at Uffizi Florence has a reservation system for its state-run sights, which include the Accademia, Uffizi Gallery, Bargello, Medici Chapels, and Pitti Palace. I highly recommend getting reservations for the Accademia (Michelangelo's David) and the Uffizi (Renaissance paintings), but not the others. While you can generally get an entry time for the Accademia within a few days, the Uffizi is often booked over a month in advance (though it's easier in the off-season). Your best strategy is to get reservations for both sights as soon as you know when you'll be in town. If you're in Florence off-season (Oct–March), you can probably get into the Uffizi or Accademia without a reservation in the late afternoon (after 16:00). At worst, you can make a reservation for later that day or the next day. But why hassle with it when making a reservation in advance is so easy? After learning how simple this is and seeing hundreds of bored, sweaty tourists waiting in lines without the reservation, it's hard not to be amazed at their cluelessness. There are several ways to make a reservation: Book online, have your hotelier arrange it, call the reservation number directly, take a tour, or go in person in advance to one of the museums.

I don't believe you do need reservations with the Firenze card. Similarly to the "friends of the Uffizi" membership, you won't need a reservation. Here's what the card's website says: Museum Admission
In addition to free admission, the Firenze Card allows you to avoid long queues at the ticket offices of main museums. Just look for the sign "Firenze Card" in your chosen museums and show your card to gain entrance. Click here for the complete list of Firenze Card's associated museums http://www.firenzecard.it/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=53&lang=en At the Uffizi there is the spot to pick up tickets for reserved entrance times, and a ticket purchase line. The ticket purchase line is the one that can be brutally long and is for people without reservations. With the Friends of the Uffizi card and I assume based on the information above, also for the Firence card, you can skip both lines - you will need a ticket, but this is issued on the spot when you go to the "firenze card" spot at the musem. If you decide to call for a reservation anyway, make sure you tell them you will have the Firenze card and they will tell you if you need a reservation or not for sure.

It is my understanding that if you have the Firenze Card, you do not need to make reservations to get into any of the museums. Depending upon when you plan to be in Florence, you may not even need the card. I was in Florence 2 weeks ago and the lines at the Uffizi and Accademia were very short and I did not even need to make a reservation to get in. However, I'm sure that this will change as tourist season heats up. If you do need to make a reservation for the Uffizi or Accademia, you can request your hotel/B&B owner to make a telephone call for you. Penn

I was just in Firenze two weeks ago and I bought the Firenze card. You do NOT need to make reservations if you have the Firenze card. You simply go to the museum entrance look for the Firenze card signs and show the museum employee your card and they will let you in. Even though it is expensive (50 euros), I thought it was worth it. I know people who have waited over an hour and sometimes even two hours if they do not have reservations and even people who have had reservations had to wait because it was so busy. I did not have to wait at all, so if were you I would go ahead and get one.
