Uffizi guided tour or not?

Is it a good choice? I know I don't need guide for Accademia gallery since only two rooms for visit. How about Uffizi? I heard it is pretty large.

If a guide (or guided tour) will eliminate the line to get in, it's probably worth it. On the other hand, there are many guide books available if you want to do it on your own.

For museums and galleries we generally prefer to use an audio guide so we can explore at our own pace. We used Rick's audioguide, but the Uffizi also has their own.

Unless you're an Art History major, you won't have any idea what you are looking at and it could take hours to go thru. We had a guide who took us to the highlights and explained good details of the pieces and history.

We booked our tickets to the Uffizi and the Academia, and then went crap, how will we understand everything.

We visited in Jan (First thing in the morning is highly recommended)

I booked a private guide for our family of four (13 and 10 YO) for the Uffizi and this was the best thing we could do . he would talk us through the history and style of the major works whist navigating us expertly through the crowd to get us the best angles for each painting. The navigation alone would be worth the price

We used Michele Busillo and this was the best money I spent for guides on the tour (apart from the driver who took us round the hilltop towns and wineries)

I thought the prices were really reasonable..
