What is the best route from Uffizi to Piazzale Michelangelo by bus? I am having a hard time navigating Florence local transit website.
It is going to be near the end of our day when we finish touring the Uffizi and we would like to give our feet a rest and ride to the top of Piazzale Michelangelo. I can't find a bus stop near the Uffizi that goes there. I was hoping you might have a suggestion. Thanks.
There is a large city bus station adjacent to the Florence SMN train station. Take the #12 or #13 bus. Both go there. Here's a link for the #12. http://www.ataf-linea.it/en/timetables-and-routes/timetables-and-routes/line-12.aspx?idC=180&idO=0&Linea=12&LN=en-US. I don't see a route directly from the Uffizi. However, there is a bus route that looks like you are on 3 different buses (C1 14A and 13). Check out this link. http://www.ataf.net/travelPlan/navigatore.asp?ContextName=673933b1-cf10-44b5-b455cbe8c1794181-4d77324d&ShowAlternativa=4
Buses #12 and #13 go to Piazzale Michelangelo. I've taken both from the main train station. Buon viaggio,
Here's a somewhat funny site about the piazza: http://www.italylogue.com/things-to-do/the-most-romantic-piazza-in-florence.html (You might want to shield your eyes when you get to the butt-crack, however.)
Don't recall the bus number but from the Uffizi you can cross the Arno and get a bus to Piazzale Michelangelo. Your hotel can probably tell you where the stop is. We took the bus from there up and on the way back rode it to the train station, but no need to walk all the way there to catch the bus.
I believe that buses 12-13 go from the airport to Michelangelo. I think that one goes east and then south and the other one goes west and then south bypassing the center. We walked up from the bridge and it was not far but not a easy climb. We in our wisdom walked up and then took the bus back to the RR station. Id suggest doing it the other way.
Or take RS's suggestion if you don't want to walk, and take a taxi to the top. The bus rides take a long time to get there - an hour, I believe.
You will have to walk over to the Corso dei Tintori to get the bus, which is easy from the exit of the Uffizi - straight down Via dei Neri, cross at the light and the bus stop is a few meters down. See this map Get on at #17 and off at #24 - it doesn't take an hour from there, maybe 20-40 minutes. Have a ticket first or it is 2 euro, and you have to stamp it on the bus - Details for the 13 here Google street view showing the bus stop here
