Has anyone been successful in getting reservations at Uffizi only a couple of days in advance? Rick Steves recommends booking a month in advance. Is that really necessary? I will be there in about 3 weeks.
Hi Rebecca,
We will be there in three weeks as well!
Just a few days agao, our hotel kindly made a reservation for us at no additional charge. I would start with your hotel.

One suggestion, Rebecca, if you can't get hotel to make reservations for you for free and intend to call Uffizi yourself.
I waited a long time on hold for an English speaking person. I imagine they are few in number and in demand for even Europeans who don't speak Italian. The long distance charges were racking up. So I found someone who spoke Italian here (in my case it was my brother in Albuquerque) and had him call and select Italian. Since it is in Florence, they all speak Italian so he got through very quickly and made the reservations. Ask around for an Italian-speaking person in Salt Lake and have them call for you.
Yes I did. Our hotel made our reservation only 2 days in advance. Wasn't in high season though. I would contact your hotel and ask if they could do it for you. Ours was very happy to make any reservations we wanted at no charge.
I just called to make a booking for July, and the recorded info said that the first available booking is April 18th, so it sounds like you won't have a problem this time of year. Definately do book a reservation, though, to avoid the lines. Have fun!
