Uffizi Gallery, Florence

Hi- I am planning a trip to Florence next September 2009. On checking some of the on-line ticket booking systems for availability, it appears the Uffizi is not available on several dates that I plug in.. can it be booked up this far in advance? I don't see the point in getting too far into planning a trip there if we can't get into this museum! Is there a closure for renovations or some other reason, or are people really booking this far in advance?
Thanks!

It looks like the Uffizi cannot yet be booked for any dates in 2009. I just scanned the site and after about 10 days, they are wide open on any day through the end of this year. Once you go into January 2009 and beyond, they show none available. You're simply to early.

Nancy you won't have any trouble booking 2-3 months in advance. The easiest way is to reserve your hotel and then ask them to make the reservations for you. Virtually every hotel in Florence will make museum reservations for you, at no additional charge. They will email you the info you need to get your ticket.

Nancy:
You should be able to book for September 2009 reservation around July 2009. That is the way their computer systems works. I was able to book my reservation for November 2008 in August 2008. I did try around April but could not do it. Then I wrote to Uffizi Gallery and they did explain that you can only do the on-line booking a few months before the exact date. I was able to save money by doing it myself (very easy on-line process) as my hotel wanted to charge me extra 8 euros per ticket on top of the actual ticket price. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much everyone! This is very reassuring news- I'm looking forward to researching and booking everything in the months ahead. I'm taking a painting course at the Watermill at Posara, from Sept 12 to 19, hoping to then go on to Florence for 4 days, then on to the Cinque Terra. The trouble is I'll arrive in Florence on a Saturday, and Mondays are not good for the museums. I wonder if it would be best to head to the Cinque Terra first, then go to Florence, say on the Wednesday or Thursday? Any thoughts?
