Uffizi and Accademia tickets: how far to get ahead for listed price

My friend and I will be visiting these museums in early July. Tickets are advertised as only 6,50E. You can purchase online at b-ticket.com, but they cost 10E (plus 4E reservation fee). Does anyone know how to purchase in advance and pay the 6,50E? We don't mind paying the 4E reservation charge, but don't want to pay the extra 3,5E if we don't have to.

The hotel can make reservation for you at the listed price. I understand some hotels charge a small fee(3-5E). Mine (hotel Bonelli) did it for free.

I believe the extar 3,5E is the special exhibition fee. If there's a special exhibit, you have to pay it, and it seems that there's almost always a special exhibit.

I'll be there in early July as well!

So there's no way to just pay for a 'regular ticket' and see the normal collection without paying for and seeing the extra exhibit? We want to reserve ahead but only for the 6,50E tix if possible. we'll do the 10E tix if necessary but thought we'd check it out.

My husband and I joined the Friends of the Uffizi before we left and for 100 Euros got free admission to all the major sights/museums in Florence with NO waiting in lines or reservations. To see all the particulars and joining info go to http://www.florenceforfun.org/index.php?id=31 to see what all is covered. We just showed our cards and IDs and walking right in. I printed the membership application from online, mailed to Florence and they mailed back 2 cards - total time was 3.5 weeks. I think you could also pick them up at the Welcome Desk at Entrance #1 and not have to wait in line. They were awesome and I would HIGHLY recommend this for a visit to Florence.

For the lowest possible entrance fee, you can always stand in line and wait a couple of hours to get in. The line wraps down the street and around the corner. People with ticket time reservations go right in on time. If there is a special exhibit going on, you will always pay the extra fee. b-ticket or your hotel is the easiest way to get your tickets.

On that note... I have only noticed afternoon reservation times on b-ticket. I assume morning reservations are still available over the phone, right? I will have my hotel make these, just want to be sure. (I know, I know, mornings are crowded... but it's how my schedule works!)

Sarah,
If I'm remembering correctly the Ufizzi is having a special exhibit of 18th century artwork called "Splendour and Reason" the Accademia is having a special exhibition of Robert Maplethorpe, hence the additional and unavoidable charges. A huge benefit of having the hotel get reservations rather than going through an agency and prepaying is that if you get to the museum and there is no line, or a very short line you can just get in that line and get in without the extra 4 euro fee. We did that three weeks ago in Florence. Showed up at the Accademia about 20 minutes before our reserved time and there was no line. Did the same the next day at the Ufizzi where the line was already long at 9am used our reservation number and walked past the waiting line.
