Uffizi and Accademia ticket prices?

I have Rick's 2014 edition of his Italy book. Reading his section on "Sights in Florence", he states that the ticket prices for the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia, are each 11 Eu. plus a 4 Eu reservation fee. I just tried entering my date and time onto their website(s) and buying tickets for my husband and myself, and the price given for each museum is 43 Eu.!!! I can understand an increase of a few euro, since publication, but this is nearly twice as much. Am I doing something wrong? We will only be in Florence for 2 days, and only plan on seeing two or three museums in addition to these, but the Florence Card is beginning to sound more reasonable than when we began our planning.

Am I doing something wrong, or misinterpreting something?

Which website are you using? The official reservation website www.firenzemusei.it does charge what is mention in the guidebook. However, some people have expressed frustration using this website. There are other middlemen websites that can book tickets but their service fees are higher. www.Uffizi.org is one of them. I tried the same thing for two people and it quoted me 50 euros total. Of course it is more expensive, it may be easier to use than the other website. I hope this helps some.

Note that the official website Abe posted is the same as the one I suggested. When you use Abe's link and click on "enter here" for ticket purchase, it takes you to the B-ticket site I posted. As Abe noted, some have trouble with the website---which is why I phoned for reservations instead.
