Uffizi and Accademia-Guided tour or Rick's Audio Tour?

My husband and I and our two teenagers will be in Florence June 7-11th. Do you suggest we book a tour of the Accademia and Uffizi with Artviva or should we just download Rick's audio guide? Also, should we try to do both museums in one afternoon (it doesn't appear we can get morning tickets to either museum) or do the museums on different days?

If you are booking on-line, the hours may be much more limited than if you book by phone - or ask your hotel to book for you. How long you spend in each is very individual. The highlights at the Academia can take less than an hour. Rick's guide is fun, but only covers some of the highlights. The same with his tour of the Uffizi. Most folks find a lot more to see at the Uffizi. And most of the rooms are usually pretty full. I went in October and had to wait over 30 minutes to get in, with a reservation - there is limited capacity and sometimes (I was there around 11, I think) they just don't let people in until enough exit. Also, they seemed to give preference to groups. The second time I went to the Academia, I rented the audio guide and enjoyed it - I also saw (or paid attention) to many works that I hadn't noticed the first time (with the RS audio guide).
