Uffizi and Accademia- Free for children less than 18, but long lines?

My husband and I along with our daughters (ages 9 and 11) will be spending 4 days in Florence this June. We plan to visit Italian State museums - Uffizi and Accademia most definitely and if time allows, others as well.

I'm hoping for clarification on a minor detail please. I see that children under the age of 18 are admitted free, which is fantastic. However, I'm worried this will entail standing in the long line at the entrance? Or, could I purchase tickets for just the adults and take the ID for my kids and assume they will honor the free entrance as they are with us?

Thank you in advance. This forum has been enormously helpful in planning my trip.
