Uffizi and Academia Museums

Will be in Florence for 2 days -- is it possible on day 1 to get reservations for the 2 musuems for the following day?

real easy to see both places in one day as long as you get reservations. Get them before you leave for your trip

The best way to get reservations is to have your hotel do it for you. Saves you time, hassle and expensive.

I think you are asking if you can arrive one day and be assured of getting reservations for the next day? If that's your plan, I wouldn't recommend it. The Uffizi can book days in adavance. Academia doesn't interest me as much, so I don't know about that. I'd suggest booking on the internet before you leave the US--preferably a few weeks before you want to go to the museum.

Sarah, booking ahead can also depend on the size of the museum (Accademia is smaller than the Uffizi, can only hold so many people at one time). I would book ahead if I don't have several days' flexibility. Last July in Rome, the Borghese was not taking reservations six days out. I was in Florence the same month, and people were getting into the Uffizi without reservations, but the line was very long (reserved ticket line was relatively short).

Sarah, check with your lodgings now and see if they can get you reservations. When we stay at the Dali Samanta just gets our reservations and gives us a number. When we get there we pay our admission and an extra fee for the reservation. The upside if there is a problem with not being able to make it you're not out any money, AND as happened one time there was a very short line, so we just got in line and saved the reservation fee.
