Two separate museums. It's good to reserve ahead so you can skip the line. You might not want to book the two in one day. That might be "art overload." The Uffizi is larger than the Accademia. You could easily spend three hours there. Not so the Accademia. I think we were in and out in about an hour.

I booked online through "Select Italy" and I just showed the email reservation confirmation at the museums' ticket windows 15 minutes before the appointment time. I'm sure I paid a little more but I was booking a dozen different museums all over Italy, and it was worth the convenience. As for getting "in and out in an hour", it depends on what you are interested in. I actually spent more time at the Accademia, because I couldn't stop looking at the sculptures. The painting gallery upstairs is very good, too. Another site in Florence is the Convent of San Marco. You can usually get a ticket for the day you want to go, but they have a reservation capacity because the individual friars' cells in the convent (now a musuem) are small. It's a great opportunity to see masterpiece frescoes in the place they were meant to be.

Ask your hotel to make reservations at both places. They do it with no charge except a few euro charge for the reservation.

Stacy: We are in Florence now. Went to both museums on Sunday without problem. Both PACKED! We reserved on line which was worth the few extra euros but remember...when you get to Ufizi you must take your confirmation to door #3 first, then you will enter at door #1. I made the mistake of going directly to door 1 without exchanging the voucher for tickets so we had to wait twice.
