Two Regions

We are seasoned travelers and have seen much of Italy except for these two Regions: Le Marche and Puglia, what can you tell us regarding sites to see, food, beaches, scenic drives hotels, anything? We are leaving it open-ended so you can tell all. Thanks!

If arriving in Rome drive east to Pescara, then south along the shore to Termoli small seaside town with lovely beach & fort. Inland there are many little towns.
Further south you have Barreta, don't miss Gargano forest & views exceptionall. If you want Bari & Brindisi could be interesting, very hectic places. At the boot you have Lecce very nice, also Alberobello visit the Trulli. There are the caves at Castellana. Go west Tarranto naval town with an old city surrounded by water & a beautifull boardwalk lines with trees. Food is great in these regions. Good Luck

Urbino is a small gem of a city. The major attraction there is the Palazzo Ducale, which houses some wonderful art. The palazzo itself, which was the home of the Renaissance duke, Federico da Montefeltro, is an art work in itself. Another spectacular sight is the Frasassi Caves. We also liked the town of Ascoli Piceno. The Touring Club of Italy has a guide book for Le Marche, which I suggest you purchase. (got it from Amazon). Cadogan also publishes a guide, Umbria and Le Marche. Either one will give you the kind of detailed information you're seeking.
