We're just back from Tuscany, and have to pass this on - toothpaste is perfect for, first, getting all the olive oil and pesto stains out of your clothing, and, second, if you are brave - or foolish - enough to rent a car, as we were, it is just the thing to rub out the scratches when some dastardly driver parked next to you backs out and leaves scratches on your mirror. We picked up so many great tips on this website, so just had to try to reciprocate.
But if you spill red wine on someone's white marble floor, toothpaste won't get it out. Don't ask me how I know.
And fortunately, they sell toothpaste in Italy as well. :-)
I carry a jar of pesto to get the toothpaste stains out.

Bring extra dental floss; it's soooo expensive in Italy! and is strong enough to use as a clothesline!
So THAT is why my gums bleed every time I floss. I am flossing with clothesline... Just kidding, but that is good to know. I use it to slice a cake. Try it and you will see, it slices it like a laser beam, no crumbs AND you don't get icing all over it like the blade of a knife.
One of the reasons we go to Italy is to buy toothpaste. We use mentadent at home and it comes in a pump. We have to go to Italy to get it in a tube. So when the tube is low it is time to go back...
We only use toothpaste we buy at Migros in Switzerland. When we only have two tubes left in the cupboard its time to set up a return trip. We discovered it on a trip to the Berner Oberland several years ago and love it.
