Two Nights in Tuscany - Where to go?

We are heading to Rome for a wedding. We only have two nights in Tuscany (torture!). I have already been to Florence - so we will skip that. Ideally, I am looking for 1-3 cities that we can get to by public transportation, smaller, great wine, great restaurants, and some historical sights. Shouldn't be too hard in Tuscany... Any suggestions of must sees for a couple?

Siena has plenty of train service, or you can connect the last leg by bus from Florence. Volterra is near the train line on the coastal side, with a connection to bus at either Cecina or Saline di Volterra. Bus would be the more direct way from Volterra toward San Gimignano, Siena, or Florence (for more train connections).

How to Look Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the DB train schedule link and tips for using it. Other web searches like Google/Maps or Rome2Rio can help find bus companies for specific routes; they're also listed in Rick's guidebooks.

You might enjoy Arezzo - beautiful medieval town center, some very good restaurants, a castle. Or Montalcino if you are closer to Siena.
