Two More Days in Italy?

We are planning a 13 day trip to France and Italy at the end of April. In this order: 4 days in Alsace, 3 days in Venice, 3 days in Cinque Terra, 1 day in Milan, and home from Milan. We had planned on 2 days in Switzerland (Jungfrau region) on the way but decided against it based on season and trail/town condition, We are traveling by train. I need to add the 2 days in somewhere. I think we’d like to spend it in Italy. Any suggestions on where to go for these days? I’d like to keep it somewhere on the general route that the train will travel. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Pat

You could spend time in Verona on your way to the CT

Verona and Lake Garda between Venice and the Cinque Terre would be a good stop. Spend one day in Verona and one day in Sirmione on the southern tip of Lake Garda. Take the train to Desenzano and bus, ferry or taxi from Desenzano to Sirmione.

Lake Como before your last day in Milan would be another good good option.

Pat,
A perfect stop between Venice and Milan is Verona. It is on the same train path and there are a lot of things to explore. If your lucky you might catch an opera at the Arena de Verona, an ancient Roman arena in wonderful condition where they perform opera and hold major concerts and sporting events. To ncheck out what is play during the time you will be in Italy, go to Arena di Verona.com. They have an english site and a listing of everything playing during that month.
