I'm traveling to Northern Italy with my teenage son. We are starting in Venice and ending in Bologna. I have two days in-between and I'm trying to decide where to go. Ravenna? Verona? Another suggestion?
We both really love love history (particularly Roman for my son), art (more for me), good food, medieval street exploring... Is there anything to see in Ravenna other than the mosaics? Is there anything in Verona to see other than the amphitheater? Though I love Shakespeare, the Juliet balcony is not of interest.
We've traveled quite a bit so trying to see which city - or other suggestion - has the greatest pull. We've seen the colosseum in Rome. Is it worth seeing s second in Verona?
Traveling by train, but could rent car (i love European road trips). Will be in summer.
Thank you!
