Tuscany with a tween (11 year old girl)

We will be staying at an argriturismo for a week in Montepulciano and doing day trips with our rental car. Do any of you have recommendations for places to go and/or activities. Thank you in advance.

I have a 14 year-old son. Some suggestions include a cooking class/pasta making/gelato making, and climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa (or any climb, for that matter). We are also renting bikes where we can explore away from traffic (in Lucca, for example). Each of these day trips is around 2 hours away, but I'm sure you can find similar activities closer to where you are staying, if that is too far. Enjoy!

There is a great organic farm right outside of Pienza (technically in Montichiello) called Podere il Casale. They have cooking classes (we did a more extensive dinner one that included making homemade pasta and a 3 course dinner, and then we ate our fabulous dinner outside, etc., but apparently the pizza classes are also very family friendly, and because they make cheese, I think they also have cheese making classes and their classes also include tours of the farm and tours of the dairy). I know that I got a kick out of all the animals (especially the peacock and the dogs) and I’m 33 years old, so I’m sure your daughter will enjoy seeing them as well. Our time there was definitely one of our highlights and the owners were super-informative and knowledgeable of the land, while still being personal and interesting with their knowledge. We found it very easy to talk to them, ask questions, and just enjoy our time there.
