Looking for a winery that can be reached in a reasonable amount of time by train/bus either near Florence or Siena. We would prefer to not rent a car but will if that is the only logical way. We would also entertain a tour but we are traveling with a 12 and 11 year old so a tour would have to be child friendly. Plus I am not sure if a full day tour would be good for them.

You could also go to the Tourist Info Center of either city or ask your hotel for an escorted tour.

read the RS Italy book, he has several recommendations. We did 2 tours with WalkAboutFlorence - their BEST of TUSCANY TOUR and the CHIANTI WINE & FOOD SAFARI TOUR - both went to a winery. Check our their website to see if they're kid-friendly. Their tours were great.
