We are staying in San ginese di compito for 4 nights and are looking for advice on day trips in tuscany. We have 2 nights in Florence booked as well. I’m worried that I should have booked something further East and south of San ginese but this location does give us easy access to Luca and cinque terre. So wondering if we could travel to south and/or east by car for day trips

The physics are inescapable - Tuscany is a big place and no accommodation will provide easy access to the whole region. San Ginese seems pretty good to me - don't overlook visiting Volterra, Pistoia, Pisa, and San Miniato - all of which we've greatly enjoyed. Decide which Tuscan sites are most important to you and use Google Maps to estimate travel times to see if changing hotels is worth it to you. If that seems like homework, it was meant to be - 'compito' is homework in Italian, along with other meanings.
