Tuscany scenic views (no car unfortunately)

hi all,

I am travelling to Rome (in-out) in mid October for about 10days and would love to see the beautiful scenery of Tuscany.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to drive, as my license is expired and in my home country where I won't be going before October.

any recommendations on towns relatively easily accessible by public transport (from Roma or Firenze) that has beautiful scenery?
(the typical images you would see if you search Tuscany scenery) (cyprus trees, vineyards, hills)

thanks,

Orvieto. Its not Tuscany, but who cares. Assisi, again, not Tuscany but worth a visit. Siena, it is Tuscany, bigger town, very historic, good bus and train connections.

Fiesole. It is on the outskirts of Florence and can be reached by local bus no.7. The town lies on a hill and gives You a great view of Florence with its duomo and other towers.

Look into a winery tour out of Florence. That will get you in the countryside. If you are adventurous, take a day trip by bus to Volterra. It is gorgeous!

Derik,

I can't tell by your profile if you're fit and like activity or not, but I rented a bike when I was there and cycled around the area outside of Florence. Plus they drop you into the area so you can get to the pretty Tuscany region, easily! There are dozens of bike touring companies!

From Rome, nothing easily reached in Tuscany without a tour.
From Florence, there are tours but certain villages can be reached by public transport in a relatively decent time, I believe : Greve, Panzano, Radda, San Casciano, Barberino, San Gimignano. Fiesole, up the hill from Florence, is lovely.
Not sure how scenic all the routes are by public transport.
