HI Rick Steves Italy Experts! I will be taking a RS Heart of Italy tour seeing Rome, Volterra, Lucca , Cinque Terra and Florence 2 days .After the tour, I have 3 days and 2 nights from Florence to see Tuscany. I like biking, walking, hiking, hot springs , not a big wine drinker and want to see more of the Tuscan country side end of October. Havent decided whether or not to rent a car. I'd like suggestions where would be a good place to stay 2 nights and places to visit. I have a RS Tuscany book, but difficult to decide. I'll be returning to Florence end of the third night for an early morning departure the next day. Thanks for any suggestions!

Siena is a wonderful city and makes a great base to explore the city of Siena itself, and the hill towns around Siena. I stayed in Alma Domus while I was there. Wonderfully peaceful place with great restaurants at the top of the stairs and great breakfast with real cappuccino service! Outside Siena, I was in Agriturismo Marciano. Very friendly place, convenient to highways. RENT A CAR!!!
