thanks in advance: flying from Paris to Florence to experience Tuscany. Where should I make home base to take tours around and where to go? Staying 3 nights or more if you talk me into it. after that I want to get straight to Positano. I need the most direct, easiest route that doesn't include my driving or the rattle-trap train from Naples. How far can I take the train from Tuscany to Positano. Then do I need a car service? Then to Rome - is there a car service at least to Naples? There are 4 of us.
Mille grazie
Tuscany base.
Without a car, if one must rely on public transport, I would stay in Florence. With a car I would stay along the freeway corridor mid way between Florence and Siena. The way to Positano without driving and without the circumvesuviana, is a train from Florence to Naples (or Salerno) then a boat. You could take a car service instead of public transport. From Naples to Positano is probably around 100 to 120 euro. Not too horrible for 4 people.
thank you. Do you have a fav place to stay along the freeway if we rent a car? Can we take a bus there and rent a car there so as not to deal with Florence traffic? mille grazie
