With 4 days in the area, should we spend 2 in the Umbrian area and 2 in Tuscany? I've been to both, but traveling with friends who haven't been to Italy before. Thanks!
debbie, As your friends haven't been to either, spending two days in each area would be good. You could perhaps spend two days in Siena and two in Orvieto. They're reasonably close, so travel time wouldn't be a problem (fastest trip appears to be 1H:52M, with one change). Cheers!
debbie, if you have time to split between the two, a couple of days in both is a great idea. Think about Assisi or Todi, both beautiful places. If you have a car, you can probably visit a couple of towns on your way from Tuscany to Umbria.
Thanks! If we are starting in Rome, should we do Umbria or Tuscany first? We are then going to Venice. Drive in our rental or do a train? (4 people) Appreciate your help!
Hi Debbie - Umbria is mostly south of Tuscany. Traveling from Rome, doing Umbria (Orvieto, Todi, etc.) first eliminates backtracking en route to Venice.
