My husband and I are leaving on a cruise ship out of Livorno but will have 2 days there before getting on the cruise. We plan to spend one of those days seeing Pisa/Florence. Wondering about the other day, should we head to Tuscany or Cinque Terra? Thanks in advance!
Florence and Pisa are already in Tuscany. Where else in Tuscany do you want to go? It’s a large region, larger than Massachusetts and Rhode Island combined.
To see Florence alone it will take you at least 3 or 4 days, and Pisa (which is next to Livorno) will take another half day of your time. In two days you can’t see much else.
The previous posted gave good advice. You need more than a fraction of a day to see Florence.
Consider going Pisa and nearby Lucca.
Thank you! We only really have 1.5 days so it sounds like sticking to Pisa/Florence will be our best options. I would love to hear the tops things to do in Florence!
Well, the top things to do in Florence depends on your interests. It would also be helpful to have a good guidebook.
As I assume you already know, Florence is known for its art. Many places do need advance reservations; otherwise, you waste precious time waiting in line.
Some top attractions are: Uffizi Gallery, Accaddemia (the statue of David is the top attraction here), Florence Duomo, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, etc. This is only a small list. I think you should plan on spending both days in Florence.
How will you travel? Be sure to factor in travel time.
Walk the city in Florence. Walks of Italy has a great walking tour that includes the Duomo and Accademia. Spend all your time in Florence.
