We’ll be in Florence from Dec 30-2nd. We’re heading to Rome afterwards. We wanted to see Tuscany and the only day I could arrange to be open in our schedule is New Year’s Day 2026. We’ll have our 18yr old son & 20 yr old daughter with us. Is it worth it to go to Siena & San Griminango (may have spelled wrong)? I read many things will be closed.
It’s a holiday so buses will be operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule (not as frequent).
Bus timetables are below. The line to San Gimignano (pronounced: San Giminiano) is 131. It goes all the way to Siena, however the fast line to Siena is 131R (R=Rapid), if you just want to go to Siena.

What is closed on New Years’ Day is most shops, so you can only do window shopping. Restaurants are open. Museums are generally open, but you need to check individual museum websites. Churches should be open.
Even with shops closed Siena is worth a whole day of sightseeing and exploring. Especially with less frequent transportation I wouldn't split the day just to try and add San Gimignano. I would just focus on Siena.
My $.02, have a great trip,
