I'm thinking of renting a house in Cortona in early November. What is it like at this time? Does it, and other Tuscan hill towns that depend on tourist activity, shut down considerably? I don't mind fewer tourists, cooler weather and a more relaxing scene, but want to enjoy what Cortona has to offer (as I did last Sept). Will stores and shops be closed, will it be too dead to enjoy?
BG,
It has been a few years since I was in Cortona in November but I don't remember things being closed. For that matter I don't remember any hill town that 'depended' on tourism. They were less busy but they were towns with residents that still had to get through the winter months.
This is great news, thanks.
